My one Iris has finally bloomed. If anyone recognizes it, I would love to know what kind it is. Two days ago the flowers buds had emerged from the leaf/stem. All three of the blooming leaf/stems are doing everything at the same rate. I'm curious how many flowers are tucked away waiting for their time to emerge from the sheath?
I took two photos at 7:45 p.m. last night when the flower petals first began to show, two more at 6:50 a.m. as the flowers were unfurling themselves, and three at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon to show the flowers fully open. One of them has two blooms open at once, the other two just one each. The plant is quite tall as you can see in the second photo (from last night) and I have it in a large ceramic pot with a bog salvia. The flowers are just about at eye level and I'm six foot .. or used to be.
Stunning! Beautiful color too!!
Yes I like that blue too.
Maybe a common violet bearded iris. I have a thick row i have to cut back and will have lots of rhizomes later in the summer. if anyone wants some, send me a self addressed mailer....pm me.
What i have are these wild type from the Oregon coast.
I got one good shot.
@MissKathleen down in the Yuma corner eh? I spent more than 10 years in the Prescott area. Yeah its a bit dry down there in your corner.
@MissKathleen yup, i remember prescott once with about 8 inches. Driving the slush. Lol but i grew up in Nebraska, so snow never bothered to much, it is the cold...lol
@MissKathleen i lived in Ralph, Michigan in 2007 moved here to Oregon...my wife at the time and i had 15 acres north of Ralph 8 miles. I know the winters we had 10 sled dogs.lol
Ah! It's a somewhat rare Walking Iris or Apostle Iris. Home Depot and/or Lowe's in my area has carried them.
