Making my morning coffee this morning and I spot a deer working closer to my garden and as I go out the door to chase her off, 3 cows with their calves in tow show up, which scares the deer off for me. Half an hour later I have to chase the cows out of my garden and back to the hole in the farmer's fence from which they had made their escape from the pasture. Country living, it's rarely dull.

Happily snapping away when I look around and I am between a huge buck and the herd. Got my ass out of there very carefully.

I almost got into it last week with a young buck, just getting the velvet stubs on his head. I went to chase him out of the garden and he stood his ground and stamped his foot, so I stomped mine really hard and he backed up so I rushed in and he bolted for the woods. Uppity bugger.

Rural can be different and one never knows what to expect. The other day I was photographing two trees in my backyard. I didn't recognize the trees and wanted a photo to send a knowledgeable friend (Black Locusts). After looking at the picture I noted a 'guest' I had totally missed when taking the picture. Funny how we can become so focused we miss what is right in front of us.

Cows, deer, and crows are better than lions, tigers and bears, oh my!!
@Cutiebeauty Thankfully there are no bears on our island, just some coyotes, fishers and in the winter we can get wolves passing through after the deer.
You got that right....never know what's going to come ambling thru!

It would be nice if the farmer would fix that fence properly, the cows are here at least once a month. I'm going to have to build a paddock and start keeping them, finders keepers, losers weepers. lol

Tell me about it, I just got back in from chasing another doe out of the middle of the garlic patch and I am still in my pjamas.
@Surfpirate Sounds like you need to do like my organic farmer who has a problem with kangaroos - he put construction fencing round his garden.
@Surfpirate lol, I wouldn't fancy going out in my PJ's ATM - it's usually hovering 25°C below average first thing in the morning.
Now a doe with a spotted fawn have shown up ad a small flock of crows, it's a busy morning in my backyard.
