On a whim a couple months back, I grabbed two “Icebox Watermelon” starts, something I’d never grown. We had So much rain this spring that the garden season was very late, and our Home Depot still had lots of plants available.
You can see the few little melons growing valiantly each day now in our heat waves, and I just love this beautiful foliage, well worth planting again!
Hope the weather holds so you can get to enjoy your bounty. Here it's been milder than usual and we have only had a few days over 80.
Interesting. Watermelon usually prefers sandy soil, not rich soil like that.
Haha, I didn't bother to research that, but with sand maybe more of those pretty yellow blossoms would have born fruit?
@tinkercreek I think that particular problem is more likely a pollination problem.
