Ever hear of banana peels in water to fertilize plants. Yes, put a couple banana peels in a mason jar with water. Let it sit room temp for 3-5 days. Then pour only the water, not the peels, for the plants you want fed. It's said to work great for tomatoes.

I've been doing this for years. It does work quite well. 😉

My banana peels go in my composter or my worm boxes. The worm boxes are in the garden. One way or another all the fruit/veggie scraps end up back in the garden.

The skin I recently learnt has as much nutritional value as the banana flesh. Seemingly because of laziness, habit & stupidity we've been throwing away a large part of the fruit's benefit.

Don't do it too often.....over-fertilizing's a bad thing.

Interesting. But why? Potassium?

Tomatoes are certainly said to like a lot of potassium yes.
