I have grown grapes.

@CrazyQuilter It kind of sounds like the grapes you are growing are not suited to where you live. Do you know your climate type?

@CrazyQuilter that vine might never bounce back, to be honest. If I were serious about growing some grapes there, I would get rid of that vine, and buy a variety that does well in that area.
I would cut that vine back to about a foot above the ground, wait for it to leaf out again, then apply round up.
I don't really know what it is like to garden where you are. There is a garden group for your area on here. I would check with them for better info.
Good luck!

@CrazyQuilter oh ok! I misread. In that case it sounds like you are doing all the right things. Not sure every step you are taking is necessary, but I don't like high maintenance plants.

The frost goes 8 feet into the ground here so, no.

Have a vine that I inherited out the back but the birds/rats/mice always get them before I do and as they are only the green variety. I can get them cheaply and better quality in the supermarket in season. They are not worth the effort imo.

No, I'm not, but I'll check back because I'm interested.

Requires attention. Pruning, protection from the birds. My neighbor has a vineyard & has elicited help as he can't handle the enormity. However if you don't mind sharing with the creatures & the blight, & the training, & pruning....just let 'em go, I would certainly grow some.
