Checking out my sunflowers today, and wanted to share. My plan for the seeds that the birds don't get, is next year plant in this nice big spot close to the garden, I tried to get the honey bees on the sunflower they were to fast for me to focus a good shot.

I like to plant sunflowers for the birds, namely Goldfinches.
The trick is getting past the bunny prone stage

@kenriley Here in upstate New York, farmers ( especially those with fruit stands, grow lots of sunflowers, cut them at peak of beauty and sell them as flowers for your vase at home. Most of them go for bird food and oil extraction, but paying 50 cwents for blossoms makes it posssible for everyone to have beauty in their home and food for the birds on the porch.

I love how it looks all honeycombed when it's been eaten!

We used to pick the heads and put them near the house when they were ready for eating - but these are holding up well right in place!
