New member here. Nice to meet you all. Here's my current project- a rain garden. The former tenants let the yard die. I'm focusing on ground covers and native plants that will be water efficient. Most of our rainfall comes in thunderstorms in late summer.

That's very clever, you are in Australia? I think we have similar climate issues.

Brad Lancaster is a rainwater harvest expert in Tucson. Check out his book and try to attend one of his workshops. I have sloping ground and I use a series of swales and basins to harvest water.

@CrazyQuilter Yikes!!!

Welcome.
How wonderful. Times are changing & the lawn concept is being reduced to a usable space only. The days of vast expanses of useless, resource consuming, environ disrupting lawns are numbered. Yay!
