Yesterday (I think) I mentioned to one of my favorite Agnostics that I hadn't seen any garter snakes in our garden beds for awhile. So, naturally, this morning I'm looking over things with some coffee and find this fellow in the butterfly habitat area.

I have never seen a garter snake on my home 1/2 section in 55 years, yet 5 miles away on my other lands I see them all the time. There don't quite look like yours, ours are either 5 stripe or 7; the 7 stripe have both red and gold stripes.

I've only had brown snakes so far ... and I'm kind of good with that. My brother has a large Koi pond that attracts a few Diamondbacks.

I have one hanging around my garden pond, he keeps getting bigger, the number of frogs keeps getting smaller.

Surfpirate Level 9 June 5, 2018

Just make sure he doesn't get too big.
If he starts looking at you a lot... beware.

Looks like it had a recent meal...?

I didn't ask him... looked like more than a cricket though. Maybe I should check with the neighbors behind me and see if they're missing a child.

@bigpawbullets Silly...

No garden is complete without one.
