People who enjoy growing their own food. Or taking care of their landscaping and gardens. Let’s try and keep politics to minimum here in this group unless it has something to do with agriculture or affect on planting and growing your own food.

Finally put in two rain barrels this past summer. Felt great to be able to use rain water. Between that and using compost, I'm hoping to see increased productivity in the garden beds.

Offering something for folks to ponder--the effect of major solar flare events on human history. The most significant one that we know much about was the one in 1859 which sent the Northern lights as far south as the Caribbean and which sent sparks ...

A vase a bowl and some Holly from the garden, it seem enough to celebrate the winter solstice, at least for a lone male. (It cost nothing and will seem even better after a couple of drinks. ) Happy solstice to you all.

Viburnum X bodnantense is perhaps the best winter flower there is, nearly all though the winter it make these small but very highly scented flowers. If brought in to the house, even one small branch will fill the room with a hyacinth perfume.

It's winter up here in Canada so everything is either dead or asleep as far as my gardens. I did manage to plant 250 tulip bulbs in pots today and 100 Irises and 100 Alliums in layered pots, we'll see what we get in a few months time.

1st picture,9/20/2017 of my backyard three days after Hurricane Irma. 2nd picture, same shot yesterday. Notice the "dead" trees in the background in the 1st compared to the 2nd. Mother Nature may not be a god, but she's an amazing lady.

Everything where I am is almost dead. It is hard to keep anything alive in the garden. The heat, the lack of rain and the winds are killing everything.

I went out to check on my ladybugs and to make sure that the ones that stayed in the bag had gotten out. There were still about 50 in the bag (out of 3000) so I put them on the tree. The ones on the tree are having a feast. They seem to be happy ...
