The Marsh Marigolds, Caltha palustris are flowering in the garden pond now. Both the single form and the double. Some people say that the flowers of the double form last longer but, though they grow next to one another I doubt there is half a days ...

It's finally spring and we need to remember that conservation is an important part of gardening and we shouldn't waste anything. Plus a garden is a darned good place to get rid of a body. ;)

Lawn mowers tuned. Both fired off on the first pull. Front yard mowed. I'm the third to mow this year on the cul-de-sac. I've got to up my game.

My winter garden is producing well now: snow peas, green onions, spinach and beets. Today's task: making borscht. The weather is erratic and we're having some days in upper 80's with wind, so I made some temporary shade to finish off the beets....

The continuing saga of the vanilla - today had my first attempt at hand-pollinating (with a bamboo skewer) on a ricketty ladder on a slope... I'll be extremely surprised if it worked but as I'm going to need to do it every day for a week or two as ...

I've bored my coworkers with talk of seed starting and gardening. A noob to homesteading. I'm starting a garden from scratch in the front yard this year, and hopefully will have enough land cleared to get pigs next year.
