Unfortunately oversight is needed because people are lazy. And selfish. And try to get away with stuff. So while government overreach is a thing....we still need a certain amount.

When corporations make the rules government becomes a tool of the extremely wealthy and the only regulations are on the poor who make up 99% of the population...
