This quote originates from The (Deceptively) Broad British Parody Exception by Amy Lai 2018
She attributes it as being a quote from Free Speech: All That Matters Reprint by Alan Haworth, 2015 who in turn attributes it to Oscar Wilde, though there is no evidence of it ever having been quoted before 2015..
Haworth does not give a reference as to where Wilde wrote or published this aphorism.
In point of fact this is the first and only place where the parody of Voltaire's quip “I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” is attributed to anyone (not even Voltaire as his "quote" is only quoted in his biography by Evelyn Beatrice Hall, who claims she heard it in conversation between two of Voltaire's friends after his death)
So what we have here is a second hand assertion of a parody, reported as here say by a former politician, of a quote made by someone who likely never said it.
Interesting. Cheers for that. Still funny though.
