@Rudy1962 Remember this stuff? No, you are about a decade too young. Katz Drug Store chain had their own private label beer. It was awful. Anyway, they were going to discontinue it, so they put it all on sale for TWENTY-NINE CENTS a six-pack. The upper classmen, who were 21 and over bought it up and sold it to the underage kids for $1 a six-pack. The stuff was green, and the gutters ran foamy green with vomit as college kids would drink anything from sterno to polio vaccine back then. Great times. Katz Beer. I have many stories about college in the 60's.

@Rudy1962 It was. One summer I was a real bum. I had no job, no money, and slept on a couch at the Frat House. I would sleep till noon and then go to Tiger Town (a college eatery) and get 3 cub burgers for 15 cents apiece. That was enough food to keep you alive. During the afternoon I would play poker, hearts, bridge, ping-pong, bum cigarettes and earn enough money for the daily food and drinks. As night fell you would go to Walgreens and get 3 quarts of Old Milwaukee beer @31 cents a quart. I lived on $1.50 per day. Eventually I wised up and got a job and graduated. Vietnam made us all a little crazy.

@Rudy1962 It was unreal. The local college was bulging with about 30,000 enrolles. Tuition, In-State was only $87.50 per semester and you only had to make a 13 (I made a 29) on the ACT to get in. Everyone was trying to avoid Vietnam. The choice was, 2 years in the Army or Marines, or 4 years in the Air Force. There was a waiting list to infinity for the Coast Guard or the Army Reserves. I got my draft notice as I foolishly flunked out one Semester. I had my physical, my marching papers, everything. I was saved by Nixon's lottery, #333. Many of my friends were not. They came back without legs, in a body bag, or horribly damaged. I really and literally dodged a bullet.
