I am reminded of an incident where I found a boss of mine counting all of the lights mounted in the ceiling of a conference hall by walking up and down and marking them off on graph paper.
I asked him what he was doing and he explained as above. I quickly counted the number of rows and multiplied it by the number of columns and gave him the correct answer.
He glared at me and said "I want an accurate count, not a guess arrived at by a trick!"
The above contention does not mean there is not a most efficient way of doing things or of getting to the right answer more quickly.
Worth baring in mind that sometimes other peoples "way of thinking" is pure obstinate ill informed time wasting idiocy.
