Now what?

Hours after the Democrats appear to win control of the House of Representatives, pro-Trump protesters reach the house floor - now what? Please feel free to comment as this action continues.

At least one Constitutional amendment will be proposed as a result of today’s (1/6/21 ) activity in DC.

America was formed out of armed protest against what the 'patriots' called tyranny. The notion is that it is every citizens duty to take up arms against a tyrannical government.
So, this is what Trump's minions are doing, they are carrying out their duty as patriotic Americans to overthrow America's twisted government.
The problem is, they are the problem as they attempt to use force to support a tyrant (Trump).
When it comes to firepower, Trump has the edge if much of the military and police follow him or at least stand down and allow violence to prevail.
It is time for the Republicans to support the results of the election and denounce Trump. Indeed, a motion should be set to inaugurate Biden with immediate effect as a state of emergency.

Sofabeast Level 7 Jan 6, 2021

The military will not follow him. They will support the Constitution. And, I blame all of the Republicans who, instead of calling out this "voter fraud" crap--that they KNOW is crap--decided to try to gain political advantage with tRump's far Right, unhinged, ignorant, base.

@Joanne I hope you are correct, and they love your Constitution more than Trump. Look to the experiments of Milgram and Zimbardo as illustrations of how quickly and easily things go wrong

I’ve heard that the Constitution says the Inauguration will be on January 20th. Yes, the 20th Amendment.

I watched this on the BBC this morning. What struck me was first where are the police who broke up other demos ah they where black these are white. What would the US politicians be saying if they sat watching another nation go through the same. The third thought was the genie is out the nuts are roaming free emboldened by Trump what happens when laws are passed they disagree with. What will happen when or if some of these morons are arrested. My net thought was i need more coffee

The police were a joke yesterday .

@Pralina1 The police, at the command level, not the line officers, were probably in on a plan to let it happen. That plan or conspiracy probably went all the way up to Trump, but we'll never know as they'll keep their mouths shut. This reminds me of 9-11. The information was out there and available to see and predict ahead of time, but the people in charge of security let it happen because it served their needs. Race and political leanings mean everything in how protesters are treated in the US.

@Pralina1 This country is fucking disgusting.

There are videos of police taking selfies with the terrorists, also film on the police opening the gates (though in fairness, they were outnumbered 100 to 1)

The protesters with weapons should be cast into prison. The other protesters should just stop being such effing a-holes.

I agree but other protest people at some point start to do something stupid. If it’s not an arm weapon, just throwing objects are just as wrong. It’ll get worse if it break into a full fledged riot. Hopefully the issue resolved quickly.

There are some people that think we should hear this guy out.

Rational people think he should have been shot in the face when he sieged the Capitol building and attacked our democracy.

2

Some of the elite, domestic terrorists that managed to shut down Washington, DC - little wonder they had to call in the National Guard.

2

The only winner is China.

Shocking stuff. I can see this is going to put Australia's push for a republic on the back burner.

2

House of Representatives? Come on man, pay attention!

2

tRump stoked them up.

Watching the news... Trumps cabinet is discussing invoking the 25th amendment. If they do and Pence agrees, Pence becomes acting president, Trump would object and then the congress would have to vote on it BUT they wouldn't have to vote for 3 weeks. By then it would be moot.

This is the best answer, IMO.

Nothing more than an attempted Beerbelly Putsch' by drunken Trumplerite fascists!

davknight Level 8 Jan 6, 2021

Yeah. Let's minimize sedition and treason. That way nobody will do anything to address it and we can go on with our lives until we can't anymore.

@DavKnight How can you downplay this so? It’s an attempted coup! They should be tried for treason or sedition or insurrection or whatever the right law is that they’ve broken.

Today the government learned that it needs the consent of the governed.

yvilletom Level 8 Jan 6, 2021

What a load of crap. Today Republican Leadership learned that they can't control the mobs they create.

@redbai Did they learn?

@yvilletom They learned it more than their need for the consent of the governed. Given that the consent was defined in an election and many of the Republicans are trying to overturn that election. These bigots attempting to install their racist king are acting more violent than the Republican Leadership believed possible. This is going to cost them in the future. They stoked the disgusting nature of the country and their deplorable followers got out of hand.

@redbai You made two predictions. Whose load of crap will be bigger, mine or yours?

@yvilletom Given that your load of crap was defined in your OP and nothing of mine can be defined as such, the answer is very simple as there is only one from which to select. Enjoy the privilege.

@redbai I made one prediction; you made rwo. Squeeze out from under them.

@yvilletom Or what? You'll demonstrate them to be false? Please do.

@redbai Immediately?

@yvilletom As soon as or whenever you can. It's not like I give a damn. I never said there were any predictions; that's your word.

@redbai Hold your breath.

@yvilletom Ah. So you can't and have realized how stupid your comment was. Okay. 😉

Deploy military units with the same rules of engagement we've been using in Iraq and Afghanistan. 3 warnings then all bets are off.

This is the sort of thing that happens when you have a rabble of half-wits being goaded by the Idiot in Chief who delights in telling lies about a "stolen election".

It's been almost 16 months since the J6 insurrection, and it still feels raw, like it was yesterday. Trump continues to claim that he won the election. In a few days the House Select Committee investigating the insurrection will begin to hold public hearings. Adam Schiff and others on the Committee have asserted that there is ample evidence that Trump is guilty of attempting to defraud the United States. And we have recently learned that the Justice Department has empaneled a grand jury and has been quietly investigating Trump and his minions. Tension is rising as expectations of bombshell revelations rise. Meanwhile, a white supremacist with an AR15 just murdered ten black people in Buffalo. The mid-terms are still 5 months away and I'm already exhausted.

Yeah. That’s a travesty..... or something....

So, what did they break? Did they have pipe bombs? Tie-wraps? Nooses? No? Then BULLSHIT!

@AnneWimsey you’re funny

@CourtJester no, truthful, it's easy, just Look!

I'd like to know what you think Administration. Aren't these your people? This IS sedition.

Americans need to realise that their Consitution is need of a serious overhaul. Madmen should not be allowed guns and the checks and balances are way out of whack when the executive can sack the man deputed to investigate its own fraud and can effectively pack the judiciary on a non-revocable basis.

Commie News Network? I can watch it only with the volume way down or off. Why are they always giving their opinions?

It reminds me. I just watched a clip from the electoral proceedings and here is one of the congressmen giving a very logical, correct interpretation of events regarding what the role of federal government is when it is suspected there is fraud in election related to national seats (defend investigation into states). And next is the Dem trying to arouse sympathy in the "audience" over what she had to go through today. Why does the government even let personal feelings get discussed like that? Are we supposed to care about her, when the government didn't care about the ppl as this went on all summer long in cities across the nation? DO YOUR JOB AND BE QUIET. This is not a dramatic skit. She has better health insurance than most American ppl, she needs to go tell that to her Dr. or call her therapist, not waste time on taxpayer's time/dime. The pomposity was astounding.

That was your takeaway? I knew Trump supporters wouldn't learn any lessons.

@JeffMurray Which one? Of CNN? Or my brief observance of the proceedings? My observance of Commie News Network has been over a long period of time. It is akin to a low level cult brainwashing you would experience under some fringe religious hoax. It cannot be perceived as having much credibility in my eyes. If you watch any segment for even just a couple of minutes you see the same political bias over and over. When you can ascertain the bias that clearly in such a short time, you know there is a problem. As far as law makers, what are you telling me? The two short exchanges I watched were exactly what I stated. Our government is not to be run with any special consideration to her personal feelings as a lawmaker, she is a servant of ppl's will, that's it. And additionally, just as a third man was attempting to describe the huge percentage of voters who perceive fraud, Pelosi made him be quiet because of time limits- again pomposity of these lawmakers! Take up time listening to her retelling of events from her personal perspective, but shut out discussion, and representation of voices of almost half of all voters. Nice!

@Flowerwall 🤦♂️

@JeffMurray I don't understand your pictures. The male symbol? You are a man covering your face? What does it mean? A man is covering his face? Please explain.

Let's put the shoe on the other foot. Let's say Trump had won and once again Dems felt that there was fraud and Rs had really ramped it up. What would you expect of your federal representatives? Divert to other topics and how the Rs feel about them or focus on the constitution and the rules and obligations it sets? One of the R senators himself gave a very poor line of reasoning for not voting with others against. He seems to be attempting to placate all the emotionally incensed by yesterday's goings ons , aka play politics, rather than do his job to represent his constituents and adhere to the framework that is set forth in the constitution in the role of federal government. I can still accept his decision somewhat because his other senator of the same state has voted against, so a 1 yes, 1 no is more representative of the ppl than 2 nos. You must admit the people's voice is being drowned out by lack of representation in this vote. If almost half of all voters think there was fraud, should votes to object represent that proportionally in Congress, yes or no? Should we focus on the diversion that occurred yesterday or the supreme law of the land? <<< Please answer these two questions.

@Flowerwall What are you talking about? The fraud claims have been repeatedly debunked. Where do you get your "almost half"? If "almost half" Americans thought that Africa was a country should you have a national commission to verify whether it was or not? Facts are facts - the idea that the election was stolen is just another of those 'feelings' you are so down on.

@Gareth 68% to over 90% adjudication rates have been debunked where? I am not going to go over each individual instance of perceived fraud with you here. This is something that needs to be done via a committee, a commision, since our court system opted out of doing its duty. People do not trust this process. If you are willing to allow that many voters to feel duped and offer them nothing as a governing body to restore trust, you are no friend to democracy. One lawmakers feelings are irrelevant, almost half of all voters are not.

@Flowerwall There were around 40 court cases, all defeated and all but one adjudged frivolous or vexatious. Republican observers certified every step of the voting process. There is no case to answer - there is no evidence other than hearsay. It's pure conspiracy. Trump is as much a cult as any religion.

@Gareth All you are telling me is the courts did not do their jobs. My state's conservative court justice said it best when she said the court's were not doing their job and it was a severe blow to democracy via the court's inaction. The adjudication rates are highly abnormal. Did you see the two ballots presented at the hearing? Why are there two different ballot formats for R controlled area vs D controlled area? This is not normal and should not be accepted practice. If you mark playing cards in Vegas, you get taken to the back room. But marking ballots in elections is acceptable? These adjutication rates too are a sign of klunky, malfunctioning machine in a malfunctioning process or is it not? You think it's all well and good?

@admin Can you fix the facepalm emoji so Flowerwall doesn't have to feel so out of the loop. Too bad you can't also fix the fact that civics lessons never took for him.

@JeffMurray You can face palm yourself at your own ineptiness on the topic, but I would recommend just learning more and stop with the useless trivialties.

@Flowerwall I'm done with you, bro, you're fucking insane. The only thing out of anyone's mouth, especially those that were vocal supporters of that Orange fucking maniac, is verbiage that distances themselves from him and his party. Supporting before may have been a mistake. Supporting still is willful support of seditious fucking traitors.

@JeffMurray I wrote this in anothet post - Hypocrite, elitists all over government call for Trump's removal but CHAZ enablers still hold office and are beyond reproach. The elitism evident in the idea "Don't touch government, but peon citizenry is OK" The capital building is not an ivory tower, despite their declarations. It's a government building and no more/less important than the six blocks they allowed to be held hostage for weeks. The evidence of the bias in these lawmakers to give preferntial treatment to their own interests over ordinary ppl's is now irrefutable. So how do we trust they are addressing election concerns appropriately when they have not addressed the hostage taking of city area appropriately?

"you're fucking insane." Block out what you don't you want see if that's most convenient for you. Place inappropriate labels. I would recommend using more critical inquiry myself, but do what suits you if it's all you can do.

@Flowerwall Who are you to say the courts didn't do their job? Do you have any legal experience? You're just parroting what you've been told without any real knowledge. I don't know what you mean by different ballot formats, but I'm damn sure that whatever the arrangements they were known in advance and subject to scrutiny. Just take a reality check - you've seen how many people on this forum despise Trump, you know he's insulted women, gays, blacks, Hispanics, Muslims, veterans (living and dead and their families), fellow Republicans and the disabled. If you go out on the street where you live and ask at random, you will find plenty of people who didn't vote for Trump. Now tell me why you think it's IMPOSSIBLE that Biden could have got 51% of the vote.

@Gareth It was documented in senate testimony regarding ballots. "Who are you?" A concerned citizen that is wanting to know the truth. I don't see Trump haters everywhere. I see Trump supporters. Who are you,?

@Flowerwall I'm British. Over here we mostly all think Trump is vile. We are heartily relieved that a madman will not be in the White House in two weeks time and that the US can hopefully recover its standing in the world. Wisconsin was only 50% for Trump, so I guess you don't live in a very representative part. Glad to see you ducked my question though.

@Gareth Ducked what question?

You know what? There are parts of what you said, I won't go into that part. We are looking at policy here. It's not a personality contest.

You want to know what's vile? Hypocrite politicians who chastize Trump but were silent on hostage of city area, CHAZ. It is OBVIOUS, POLITICAL BASED control.

@Flowerwall This question: "Now tell me why you think it's IMPOSSIBLE that Biden could have got 51% of the vote."

@Gareth Google Peter Navarro election report.

@Flowerwall I did. It's bunk for Faux News.

@Flowerwall Or just read an assessment of his ridiculous claims.
