Birding after work at the Montour Preserve: yellowlegs (greater or lesser, I'm not sure), barn swallow, osprey in silhouette (I was on the wrong side of the lake for that lighting), red-winged bird, and chipping sparrow.

My only halfway decent pic of a blue heron, this year. These are spooky birds, at least in Pennsylvania. When I visited my sister in Florida a few years back I practically had to shove them out of the way when I went fishing.

Duck surgery. This young Mallard is thought to have been injured by a snapping turtle. One of the vets I work with volunteered to remove the dead toe and clean up the necrotic tissue and the duck is doing great at a local rehab facility.
