This pair of wild turkey hens had 16 poults between them. I was lucky enough to see them, and actually get some pics, at the Montour Preserve.

My only halfway decent pic of a blue heron, this year. These are spooky birds, at least in Pennsylvania. When I visited my sister in Florida a few years back I practically had to shove them out of the way when I went fishing.

Went by my pond today on my daily walk and there were 3 turtles sunning themselves but I could not get close enough to photograph them. The ducks did not mind though. They will be nesting soon.

I was cleaning up the memory card on the camera and came across a few pics that I thought would be worth sharing. A Snowy Owl, a Bald Eagle, a Wood Duck and a couple of Young Bucks.

We have always called the Great Blue Heron “Ol’ Blue” for as long as I can remember. This one came to visit tonight before the rain came. Pretty colors right now.

Even though zebra doves are super common, rather plain looking, and non-native they are among my very favorite birds in Hawaii. They have almost no fear of humans and can be coaxed to eat from one's hsnd.

Florida has the largest population of Bald Eagles, outside of Alaska, 1600, at this time. As of yesterday, two newly hatched eaglets were visible in one of the nests that I am monitoring for my county, in central Fl.

While I was out fishing today I accidentally spooked a woodcock on a nest. I snapped a pic and quickly left. Hopefully the adults return.

I drove out to the Amish pond today after work to see what the wading-bird scene was like. I was not disappointed!

I worked the closing shift at the clinic tonight, so I went birding this morning. It's a shame the lighting was so awful because the birds were very cooperative. Red headed woodpecker, osprey with fish, great blue heron, the resident crippled snow ...

I got really lucky to watch this Kestrel some years ago in the Canary Isles, it was hunting lizards and it caught one and devoured it but it was about 100 yards away, so not great resolution...
