I'm just here for the posts.

Ok that's not true - I've done Retail work - I worked in a Rexall during the Holidays (Think of an early CVS) - on the cosmetics and perfume counter - and gift wrapping one year when I was on college break.

It was enlightening.

On the plus side my lack of gift wrapping skills at the age of 19? Worked in my favor - people liked that it looked like "They had done it".

But wow - it was fun watching the crazys come out. But in a small town everyone knew everyone so they could only get so bad. Not quite the same in todays world where they presume they'll never see you again.

Being told to push Emeraude sets on unsuspecting older women was a terrible thing though -and I generally steered them away from that crap to something nicer when no one was around. 😉

I can sell someone a good product or one they love? But selling someone something I know is terrible? Nope! Not so much.

I refused point blank to sell anything which I couldn't believe was true value for money.
Initially I used to have arguments, but eventually I became the sales manager, as my philosophy paid off - customers returned and refused to go elsewhere.
