Electoral politics vs. Movement Politics: The Conundrum of the Bernie Sanders Phenomenon
(“Why?!!, why?!!?!!”, cries the frustrated leftist. “Why don’t my fellow citizens see the broader picture that I see so clearly?” There is arrogance and heightened self-regard in this question, to be sure. There is also sometimes a lack of empathy—even disdain for fellow citizens—embedded there as well. But the question itself is still important and needs to be answered.)
I am guilty! And I'll go down as guilty to the end! I'll this again. This empire will never be dissolved from within either party. It will take a mass exodus revolution into a 3rd party or combination of 3rd parties, bringing in a massive amount of new blood into our governments to interrupt and create an effective check and balance process in our governance.
And I'll also argue it will mean toppling the MSM that is used as a tool to keep the empire in it's strength. It is essential we find a way to tear the public away from that tool and into real independent journalism. I'll will argue that is the essential 1st step! The perception management of this tool has the vast majority of the public engulfed in a delusional reality.
Between the democrats, independents, and non affiliated voters in the country, we hold a majority of the nations votes in which we vastly agree on most issues as a society as a whole. In which an exodus to parties such as the green party and socialist equality party could create this change. After a few election cycles power of the people would begin to have significant effects to the positive.
Guess I'm guilty of being arrogant and lacking empathy. I've seen what MSM is doing and has done I ask the same ? “Why don’t my fellow citizens see the broader picture that I see so clearly?”
I'll continue to hope and speak out for a 3rd party.
I think it's pretty plausible they had something on Bernie. The thing is they still have it on him, but they are still going after shutting him down again through other ways in the party, besides rigging the damn primaries last time. They have a "Stop Bernie" campaign and a lot of the other Dem candidates support it, obviously because he is their biggest threat to getting themselves elected. So it would seem Bernie is once again in a no-win situation. Either he sits back and takes the "Stop Bernie" campaign and insults etc. while putting on kid's gloves "attacking" them back, or he proceeds to go full steam ahead (something he didn't do last time so what makes us think he will do it now) and they release whatever they have hanging over his head. If he was full establishment then I don't think he would be espousing the beliefs that he does for the most part. It goes against the establishment and their overall goals for society, hence why they rigged the primary and fought so hard to discredit him. They are full blown capitalists and he's advocating for something CLOSER to socialism. I'm still not sure what to believe about him though. The media seems to be focusing on other Dem candidates. Democrats and the media seem to have been mentioning Bernie less and less and they don't even mention Tulsi Gabbard at all it seems unless they are trying to smear her over Syria and Assad.
As for 3rd parties.....I have given up hope with that. That's not to say I won't vote for someone like Jill Stein again, but as far as society getting behind a 3rd party, I have a better chance at hitting the lotto. The amount of propaganda and money interests keeping groups like the Green Party down, people will never get out of their fog with that stuff. It's always going to be one of the two parties or nothing for them. 3rd parties are getting anywhere from 1-5% of the vote every presidential election. A good portion of the people that don't vote, or most or all of them, don't vote because they probably think it's futile. What if they all came out one election and voted for a Jill Stein or a 3rd party candidate that actually seems to give a crap? I always hear Dems that know the two parties are corrupt say that someone like Jill Stein can never win. Why? BECAUSE THEY DON'T VOTE FOR HER!!! Lol They're always throwing out the bull crap that THIS election is too important to "throw your vote away" on a 3rd party. This mentality is mind boggling! They settle for the lesser of two evils knowing it's still evil.
Silly hoomans!
In a previous life, I was a systems analyst & designer. My experience was that people are afraid, actually fearful, of change in their lives. I like the idea of a different party which espouses what I believe are this nations core values, Civility, Diligence, Integrity, Accountability, Perseverance and Discipline to name a few. Not only espouses those qualities in their platform but requires their candidates to pledge them, with real penalties for breaking the pledge. But, as I stated, people are afraid of change, better the devil you know mentality.
That's a mentality I have never fully understood. I mean I understand on it's face, but I've never been that type of person. Someone who screws me over a little bit less than the other person is still someone screwing me over. The devil I know doesn't gain my trust and gets nowhere near me just like the devil I don't know.
@Piece2YourPuzzle Maybe that's why you list yourself as a free-thinker. But there are millions who are afraid to step outside their boxes even with a lifeline, unless coerced.
yes I have to agree with that. People do fear change and letting go of "perceived" control
How much of that fear of change comes from religious indoctrination? Many religions teach you to be afraid. Then there is the 'we get what we are used to not what we want' syndrome. Free thinkers in many cases are willing to step out of their comfort zones and ask the important questions.
@silverotter11 That's why I stated it the way I did. The other syndrome is, "we get what we deserve not what we want and there's nothing we an do about it."
