Just how bad do you really think Saddam Hussein was? I'll give you, he had a very questionable side. He partnered with the CIA in the 50's towards taking control of the country. Key note in that, the CIA. Which lead to the executions of several foes. Went on to create a rather westernized country with good collages and hospitals in which several religious sects lived relatively in peace together. Granted, it came with a heavy hand to keep extremism and tribalism in check. The extremism vastly out. Obviously he wasn't a good guy. BUT, I think our move in did more harm to the people there in a rather short period of time compared to his several decades. Let's not forget, like what's happening in Venezuela today, went on in Iraq for several years also costing that country 100's of thousands of lives. That's just the children!?! Does Madeleine Albright ring a bell?
What did we replace Hussein with? What did the Iraqi people get in return? It's not even a country anymore! The country is now one major city with a green zone, Baghdad, with a government doing worse shit than Hussein did. And spotted oil fields they don't have control over anymore.

Saddam as we all know was a horrible ruler with total control over his borders and seemed to pose a threat in the region. Seemed is the operative word, he was too busy raping the country for himself and kids to be investing in WMDs.
We continue to interfere in countries whose culture we do not understand but we need to keep the munitions factories making money for the owners. It's all about the benjamins.
