Thousands are expected to rally Thursday against the closing of Hahnemann University Hospital, a 171-year-old facility in Center City Philadelphia.

Gentrification reaches into a new realm. A realm that can decide life or death. They have gone out and found a new way to kill us off! Little by little, it's pure population control. Only they aren't just pushing you out of the city, or into one of its homeless areas, but quite possibly yours or a loved ones grave.

OH NO!! WOW! I just wonder what my twin sister thinks of this. She voted for trump, lives in Bucks County, PA - one of the whites counties in the the country and believes the religious bs.
Forget the fact she was a union worker at the GM Trenton plant, took early retirement but is married to a fellow tool and die maker who did retire with full benefits. So no worries about her health care the fucking UNION got her that but now she trashes unions. She has an investment advisor who is Morman and republican because well the Mormans do really well with their money management plans and she figures he'll invest her money well.
WHY am I telling you all this? Because this thinking is part of the problem, money at all costs with a bit of righteous religion thrown into the patriot mix for good measure. I still can't believe she is my twin.
My mom also had the belief the wealthy were better suited to run things, my dad was more of a socialist but realized human nature sure has a way of screwing up a good thing.
This is so sad. I hope a way can be found to keep this place from closing.

I will argue that part of our problem is the 1 or 2 generations before us. Those that lived through the better workforce period of decent paying jobs, many with unions and pension plans. You might recall that period as beneficial from its more socialist nature that brought us many workers rights and protections. In which at the time only 1 household worker was needed. These people are or became republicans in time, for the most part. They have the fortune to still live in that period mentally, the present escapes them. I came into the present as that period was on its way out. I was one of the first victims to NAFTA in 96 as the factory I worked at shut down and moved south on bogus reasoning. One of the few left in Delaware, Ohio that had that type of security built in.

Today, well, since the Reagan era, war on unions and pensions have wrecked society in that aspect. I'm sure most understand now unionized jobs are so few now it's scary. Mary was offered a job a few years back by a company that was working towards abolishing pensions for the government. They intend on, at that point in time, ridding the country of pension plans within 5 years. If not already enacted, there will come a time no company will provide a pension program. Or will in some measure dissolve the one's they have. I'm sure we've all heard the horror stories on how companies have either filed bankruptcy to vastly reduce or entirely dissolve theirs as it is.

GM companies are a part of that past generation which is moving into what I'm speaking about now. Your sister had the good fortune to be blessed for its social aspect. Now blissfully supports the capitalist aspect that will not be so kindly to her successors. As I have posted a number of articles on GM in the past about the union working with the company over the workers. Creating a 2 tier workforce mixing in new lower waged workers with unionized workers. Union leaders being exposed of taking bribes and purposely changing rules to benefit the company during negotiations and voting times. Many of those articles involved a plant here near me in Lordstown, Ohio that recently shut down. Trump came here and told them not to sell their homes so quickly, he'd replace their jobs. 🤢 This is in the Youngstown area. A city that's already been ravaged by the steel industry. Once a population of 170k in 1930 today about 65k. A few years back they went through the city and flattened out whole neighborhoods of empty housing. 😟

Good luck on the investments! With the fake manufactured economy we are living in right now mixed with the Deutsche bank collapse going on in Europe right now hit full tilt, this may even effect her pension let alone any money she has invested. Right now they're saying we have about a year and a half at a 45% chance that we will experience a recession worse than that in 2007/8. I'm working on that post right now.

The Trump supporters thought the same about Trump. Well, his con worked well over the decades for him, and it worked well on them! Only the same type of people are benefiting. Him and his ilk, not his supporters.

@William_Mary It's an indictment of our very way of life;on one hand, anything beneficial or positive is being removed while simultaneously insidious plans to reshape America in the wet dream of racist, wealthy Anti-Americans.The goal is to make this country their anti-worket utopia, while their fortunes continue to accumulate, whilst everyone else suffers so that they may live lives of opulent comfort😠

Do not count on it
