Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's “just society”: Palliatives that will never be implemented
{* The Recognizing Poverty Act, directed to the Department of Health and Human Services, would raise the federal poverty line, thereby increasing the number of people who qualify for existing health and welfare programs.}
Which has been constantly attacked by the present administration lower qualifications resulting in fewer people receiving help, with nothing other than lips service from the democratic leaders to combat for a day, then crickets.
{* The A Place to Prosper Act would impose a national cap of 3 percent on rent increases and “begin” to “pursue penalties on abusive and predatory landlords.”}
While gentrification runs wild around our nation, which our MSM uses to boast how cities are improving, as more are pushed to the streets and or living in vehicles to remain close to their workplace on low wages.
{* The Embrace Act would make social welfare programs available to people regardless of immigration status.}
Have I said----Which has been constantly attacked by the present administration lower qualifications resulting in fewer people receiving help, with nothing other than lips service from the democratic leaders to combat for a day, then crickets.----yet?
How about you fight and protest against the current actions of the present administration, then improve the already outdated programs rather then allowing us to go backwards further into austerity.
{Despite her demagogic and moralistic invocations, Ocasio-Cortez is well aware of the limitations of her “Just Society” initiative. In an interview with National Public Radio she explains that what she hopes to accomplish with the bills is to “build popular support in acknowledging how bad the problem already is.” In reference to the first bill aimed at reassessing the poverty level, she adds, “If we can acknowledge how many Americans are actually in poverty, I think that we can start to address some of the more systemic issues in our economy.”
Is it really an “awareness” question? It is hardly a controversial statement to say that the official poverty line vastly underestimates the real level of poverty in the US. There is no need to “build popular support in acknowledging how bad the problem already is” in the working class. Tens of millions of workers and youth live with poverty and economic insecurity every day.
The scale of the crisis is staggering:}
See, the problem with AOC is that she isn't a socialist of any kind. She just ran as one under a fake socialist group who are essentially corporate shrills using socialist speak. Their end game always benefiting the establishment and corporations who own them. If AOC wanted to make a difference to a socialist nature she would be using her seat to speak out against the establishment over falling to her knees for them time and time again. She would take her ass out of DC and join the lines of the working class on strikes around the country and protest of meaningful social needs. She's simply a leash for sheep to keep support in a failing party masquerading as the peoples party.
{To speak of creating “awareness” of poverty and inequality in the face of these statistics is absurd. Only the most politically naive would believe that lawmakers in Washington are simply not aware of the conditions facing workers.
Quite the contrary, these conditions were consciously created through the policies enacted by them, Democrats and Republicans alike. Perhaps the most significant legacy of the most recent Democratic administration, that of Obama, is the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in the history of the country.
Ocasio-Cortez’s “radical” plan is to appeal to the architects and beneficiaries of the impoverishment of the working class to make the most minimal changes, in order to provide a fig leaf for capitalism and divert workers from a struggle against it.}
Naive is not being able to see through her bullshit at this stage of the game. I'm not sorry, it has to be said. There's been a sign the size of New York exposing her compliance to the establishment.
{In response to the growth of anti-capitalist sentiment in the US and around the world, the ruling class has been compelled to promote its own state-sanctioned “socialists” such as Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez. Their function is to contain social opposition and block the working class from moving as an independent and revolutionary force.}
I'll again suggest AOC was not the innocent bartender with no experience who out seated the dominant incumbent Joe Crowley she was widely managed by perception of being, but a plant to provide Crowley a more profitable career in lobbying. I have posted about her background before that the MSM has never exposed for the public to learn of. She's not the innocent inexperienced political figure they managed to perpetrate onto the American public.
Good read. If she would propose getting big money and lobbyists out of government I might think she was interested in the people.
