Capitalism’s Suicidal Trajectory

Those who live in the West only hear one side of the story – the one about vanquishing communism, writes Jonathan Cook.

[consortiumnews.com]

{The Cold War was a power struggle between two economic empires for global domination – between the United States and its vassal states, including Europe, on one side, and Russia and its vassal states lumped together into the Soviet Union, on the other. The fight was between a U.S.-led capitalism and what was styled as a Soviet-led “communism.”}

I have problems with that. While the jest of it resembles some truth, it also leaves out history. With the Russian Revolution of 1917 you find that 14 countries of the, supposed US led capitalism works, which I have a problem with also, ganging up on Russia to fight the then socialist who ousted a tyrant government. Who eventually are overtaken by the capitalist communist of the country via betrayal due to the interference of those 14 allied countries.

What history and pundits have suggested is not that Russia was in competition towards global dominance, but forced into a measure of defending itself. In which they are still forced to do today due to manufactured narratives resulting in a facade used by those allied countries, constantly breaking treaties and lining up weapons near Russia. Can I get a Ukraine? If you're following sources outside of our MSM you'll find information to the truthful nature that the US is usually the likely reason treaties and agreements are broken. The Trump administration is on parr to having dissolved everyone, if he hasn't already, for the present agenda of fear Russia over false narratives and false accusations. While yet being attacked as not being tough enough on Russia and being their stooge. So narrative is working against us on two fronts here, Russia and Trump. While Trump really shouldn't need narratives against him, other than towards his supporters, why is the establishment left so concerned in duping us on Trump while neglecting all the real reasons Trump could have sincere narratives used against him?

The following helps to back up my opinion.

{That struggle led to an all-consuming arms race, the rapid accumulation of vast nuclear arsenals, the permanent threat of mutually assured destruction (MAD), military bases in every corner of the planet, and the demonization by each side of the other.}

Now take that last part--{military bases in every corner of the planet, and the demonization by each side of the other.} and you find the narrative propaganda---demonization. While that as a whole provides one the means to think of the benefits to the war machine, it also provides another false claim. I don't ever remember Russia demonizing the US. I only get Russia stating facts about the action of the US. While constantly mentioning they are willing to work with the US. So who's actually demonizing who when the US is engaged in a full blown propaganda effort to scare our population within narratives unproven to date for the past 3 years on multiple fronts?

I just need to point that out---on with the article. Cook goes on to blindly back my opinion in some areas. He also strangely leaves Afghanistan out as part of the reasons of the USSR's collapse. And then there's this.

{In truth, capitalism looks impressive only comparatively – because the Soviet system was appallingly inefficient and brutal. Its authoritarian leaders repressed political dissent. Its rigid bureaucracies stifled wider society. Its paranoid security services surveilled the entire population. And the Soviet command-style economy was inflexible, lacked innovation and regularly led to shortages.}

A play right out of the China doctrine. While I'll admit Russia has its major faults, as does China, you might have to put yourself in their shoes to be able to see through this cloud of purpose. Since 1917 Russia has been under attack from the westernized world on a constant flow. China since WWII. Until they were good enough to give our jobs to. But today now again. Why wouldn't they feel the need to become heavy handed to keep the false narratives out of their countries to limit the chaos we've managed to deal to so many other smaller countries? They are fighting for their existence and freedoms! Against the more formidable opponents who have been holding them down for decades who just happen to control the narrative to do so with the media they own.

He gives me this to back that up.

{The global corporations at the heart of the U.S. empire – the arms industries, oil companies and tech firms – won the war of attrition not because capitalism was better, fairer, more democratic or more humane. The corporations won because they were more creative, more efficient, less risk-averse, more psychopathic in their hunger for wealth and power than Soviet bureaucracies.}

This mind you, after he spent a couple of paragraphs demonizing Russia, he then spells out how more horrific the US can be in other areas of the world. Capitalism--A failing system!

This guy's writing is very confusing. One wonders if he was drunk when he wrote it.

I didn't find it as confusing as I did contradictory in some areas. Maybe I should say it was unbalanced and lacking in historic avenues. But as a whole it got a good message out especially towards the end.
