Hohoho it's the time to be jollie and out fraudulent corporate behaviour. Australian supermarket chain Coles increased the price of milk in order to raise to help drought afflicted farmers. Other supermarket chains were forced to do the same resulting in an overall increase in the price of milk at a time when market forces should be driving prices down. It has just been determined that they have not passed the the onto the farmers.

@FrayedBear It was a Canadian charity selling used clothes and support multiple sclerosis but it got bought up by a Seattle company I believe. Actually Savers, Inc. headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, US. It receives masses of donations from a trusting public. Dad dies give all his clothes. Since the earliest days when prices were wonderful ... they have steadily gone up. What sells in my local charity shop for $3 would sell for possibly $20.00 there. Certainly $10. The key yucky is that only some 2 or 3% goes to charity. They claim 10% does. They hire very few staff all at minimum wage. Masses of what they sell they got free. The ownership now is by Ares Management and Crescent Capital Group. A for profit thrift store. My local store supports my local hospital. We got a CT Scanner recently.
@FrayedBear Maybe I should put on my profile that I am way left of Bernie Sanders but absolutely not a communist. A total socialist maybe I believe in equality for all certainly at birth until they are 21. I believe that no-one should ever possess more than 4 times or less than a quarter of the average. I was born into the 1% but I have rejected their values, I think the Bildenburg Crowd are insane with greed to become both blind and deaf.
@rogerbenham Unfortunately the major shops here, St Vincents & Salvos since wee Jobnny Howard have been put on lines similar to commercial retailers. The local hospital op shop is run by very elderly women who in order to overcome the recession or increased rent have put prices up.
