The Fed, The Virus & Inequality
Recent years have taught us that the official responses to crises will ultimately help Wall Street and the markets, while leaving real people behind again, writes Nomi Prins.
{The reality is that an economy based on a kind of inequality once unknown to Americans is at a crossroads and the coronavirus seems to have infected it. So even with the cards stacked in their favor, the unseemly wealthy and the denizens of Wall Street can’t prevent real people from taking the brunt of the blowback. Nor will the Fed, whatever its rate cuts, nor Donald Trump, whatever his tweets, be able to prevent the majority of Americans from taking a significant hit in what’s sure to be a global economic storm. Maybe they can temporarily assuage stock market concerns, but there are no guarantees.}
{So in some sense the source of higher inequality is Fed policies}
SO, in other words. Inequality is big business for our FED? 401K's beware! They made the news again last night! Are you watching the RT shows yet to keep up? You will not get the information they put out for you on any MSM outlet.
As Nomi Prins explains the banks lending money to each other, these are the repo loans Christy Ai has been covering for the past several months on the Rick Sanchez show and Boom Bust. The FED has been dumping billions every night into the system to keep this bubble from bursting. Cheap Money.
Boom Bust---I asked if this virus was the pin to pop the bubble. For us, you and I, it very well could be. Mary got an alert last night from work that someone at her work place is being tested for the virus She works for an insurance company. Underwriting and various other office type positions. With 3 floors of employees we weren't given a name to know if it was someone she is in daily contact with. They sent the late staff that works to 8PM home and cleared out the building for sanitary cleaning process.
We've had at least 2 infected people around our area that are considered socially transmitted. Meaning they've not been out of the country or had known contact with someone that was out of the country, or anyone known to have it. 2 males, 53 and 55 in ICU. One of them is in the hospital just approximately 10 miles from us. I think Ohio has 6 know cases right now since yesterday.
Schools are shutting down for an extended spring break after Monday. HUH!?! Yea, send your kids out for the weekend and or take them about to chance getting this and bring them back for a FUCKING DAY to spread in around. Seriously!?! Fucking brilliant!
I know people are making fun of the race to toilet paper thing and all, I even had a brief moment of it as I watch some guy load his trunk with toilet paper 2 days ago, but this could become a real serious deal. Don't take it to lightly! I'm not sure what the protocol is for me now as we wait for the outcome. Do I go to work Monday, we have appointments to get oil changes on both our vehicles today? STAY AWAY! I MIGHT BE CONTAGIOUS!? OYE
I'm 67, have copd so I'm thinking just take myself to the vet and have them put me out of my misery of worrying if I'll get it. LOL
I don't know what the deal with TP is, I've had my ups and downs with gut issues and I've never used that much TP but to run out would not e fun!!
The govenment's response is evil and if it brings down what both the dems and the gop have done to this country I'd be sort of ok with that.
What amazes me in the light of all the panic that some managers at some stores aren't putting a limit on how many a customer can buy. Me first is getting really old.
Sorry to hear. It can be bad especially when alone and being surrounded by those of 'other' persuasions. Good you have this site and some 'friends' even they be virtual.
I cannot see the point of all the precautions other than to slow the rate of infections and give hospitals a small chance to be able to handle it. At least 70% of us are going to get it so I suppose trying to spread that out over time will help. Just how much /many toilet rolls are needed? I read somewhere that the average US citizen uses 3 rolls a week. You must have terrible bowel problems down there.
In my house, they use toilet paper like they drink water. It's unbelievable. They must wrap it around their hand 7 times every wipe. We have gone through 1 roll of toilet paper in 1 or 2 days sometimes (which is accurate with what you said). I don't understand it. People either have constant diarrhea or don't eat healthy foods.
@Piece2YourPuzzle Do you think that people still put paper on the seat before sitting? I understand that you could rub your hands on a public toilet seat and then wash them as long as you don't touch a sensitive opening (mouth, eyes etc.) in between. I think people believe the strangest facts.
Do women use more than men? I suppose they do for peeing but my wife often used a single leaf or some snow to do that.
@Piece2YourPuzzle well I use it, 2 kinds to blow my nose, and I have bad genes when it comes to that #2 area. It takes me a minute to clean up well. Then move to washing up. I have to take Metamucil each morning to help the situation remain a normal cycle. I'm sure our eating habits aren't the greatest though either. But not the worse. Not all people have great bowel systems. I often bitch my Alien ancestral DNA left me out of that good gene.
@William_Mary Lol my sympathies. I'm trying not to judge them, but I must have bought like 250 rolls in the last year.
@rogerbenham I'm sure plenty of people still put toilet paper on the seat in public. I can't see anyone doing it in their own home though.
@Piece2YourPuzzle I may have bought 3 packs of 48 rolls in the past year and I have 3-1/2 people here on average and myself having had 1/2 my colon removed I poop on average 5 or 6 times a day. So I find the USA usage bewildering.
@Piece2YourPuzzle One has to wonder if putting it on the seat and then lifting it off transferring germs onto ones hands. Do they then touch door handles without washing? I keep a one litre bottle of sanitiser in my outhouse. Every month or so I put boiling water on the styrafoam seat. Hardly sanitary but there is the sanitiser.
@rogerbenham So do I. I have 4 people total here and I go maybe once a day. I don't understand it either.
