@MissKathleen Cucumbers and squash seem to be about the same for me. Peppers need a head start, they have a long growing season. It’s a real chore for me getting broccoli, cauliflower, and Lima beans in early enough. You’ve only been there two years? You’ll get the hang of it I’m quite sure.

Love the interesting pink aphids. We only get common green ones here. You may have to dig up the underground tubers that could be there.

No, but Donna_I found it. Thanks.

If you have Facebook, I recommend a page simply called "Plant Identification". It's my go to resource for plant ID and it's free. I've never had to wait more than half an hour for a response, so it's great even in the field (as long as you have service). They don't appreciate discussion or non-ID...

I'm a member (not sure why). I don't use Facebook except to loosely communicate with a friend in Cleveland. I get points for asking questions here ;-).

These are boxelder bugs (Boisea trivittata). The little red guys are nymphs, those with wings are adults.
AstralSmoke replies on Jun 3, 2018:
@Insectra And you're really good at it!
You been to the camp grounds at a park lately?
Surfpirate comments on Jun 3, 2018:
Have you considered boondocking? There are plenty of places to camp for a night or two on public lands without the regimentation of state or national parks. https://freecampsites.net/what-is-boondocking/
AstralSmoke replies on Jun 3, 2018:
That's called primitive camping here.
How often do you say WTF!

Those horrible bugs. :O There is an app that identifies plants. I think it's called Plantsnap. Good luck getting rid of them.
AstralSmoke replies on Jun 3, 2018:
Those are Boxelder bugs. They look like they'd be easy pickin's, don't they?

Wild potato vine? Try vinegar soap and salt mixture. It seems to be working for most of the plants here.
AstralSmoke replies on Jun 3, 2018:
Does an air-potato ring any bells? Are wild potato vines the same? What am I doing with the vinegar soap and salt?
