YES; I've learned to listen -first just a sounding board. This builds a bond(co-workers _neighbors_family_friends_here_fellow hobbies enthusiacs_ect.)-not the clerk-not the person on the bus who I may never see again (I'm kind but just friendly past the time of day) I try to offer advise or solice if I can.I understand I can't fix things(especially if I never expierenced the issue),being humble, I sometimes give feedback to the person to that effect.i can cheer them on;show my confidence in them that they are capable of overcoming most roadblock or setbacks. My peace of mind is that I am available and honestly tried to understand what they COMMUNICATED !!! if in my power I'd consider assisting further. The point being I learned about an issue I may encounter; saw the strength of an individual overcoming something in their life; sounding board;cheerleader ; ECT. Taking on another's burden sorta stops after I've done these steps-i honestly feel 1if I can do more ,they ask 2.i'v done what I would expect in kind 3. I would weaken the person by following them as training wheels4. There are VERY big problems in life and we all will expierence some at sometime. That statement is a fact I cannot change.///sometimes just encouraging a person is the lift they need-i will continue to vest emotional energy in that cause!!! -Worrying about them(or the issue ) does nothing(and may do me or them harm)-at the least keeps both of us from moving to a better place as far as personal growth with the ISSUE. This does come up ; and if the folks around you would be putoff or a job requirement a person will sometimes do what appeals to others. Personal choice is sometimes put aside for convention. Ladies are much more scrutinized than men(wrongheaded as that is) ; I think you should choose,simply because that makes you happy. My ex had to break out of what was expected- and she was happier for it.So others had to adjust/and not take for granted... Both are stunningly BEAUTIFULL and you comfort is the only matter.

As with addiction; -they state you cannot intervene until until the person is ready to change(however small that change;its a start & shows open minded willingness).Its also preferable to have objective;factual;reasoned; and reasonable paths to facilitate the exceptance that a view(belief)or,or in case of addiction the relationship to substance or activity is causing very real harm. I do not say it's impossible to get a "religious" person to change-just that ,until they themselves are open & looking critically at thier beliefs it's like pouring gas on a fire. ...my 3sisters received a similar book in high school(catholic).After they were happily married they joked about it(30 somethings). Their critique was it saw they dater's responsibility to society the community the church. NOT EACH OTHER. Humans have to experience an exploration of themselves and others(notably the opposite sex) before they understand what they want and who they would be compatable with::there is no short cut-when dating at any age the process will involve a level of questioning reminiscent of a job interview,but with emotions/.
