If god was omnipotent why does he need this guy as an advocate(or salesman).To go to ancient text to legitimize a moral stance is removing any benifit that morality contains. I celebrate your achievements!! Drinking was an escape for me in times of emotional distress. AA & NA gave some commradery during the first 18 months; yet I can relate to the "higher power" dilemma-some younger folks saw the fellow addicts as ONE!!!( I still find this more realistic) Knowing your physical & emotional triggers and dependence on substances is enlightening.The science also as they go hand in hand.There was gaps between AA & NA; chemistry & willpower; physocology & belief(religion)-that are changing(hurrrah). I haven't drank for 4 years; dont miss it ,and respect the power it wielded over me.To get well we need the info and direction to make HEALTHIER choices not an endall beall destination. Some services -we need the government to attend to.Government over reach is bad ,when and where it occurs(bad waste of resources).SOCIETY prospers when major needs of the society are MAINTAINED. Between big cases(where $ is the factor of justice) and the common people there is a vaccum.Wether debt; job rippoffs; or estates-money gets the best/ average folks are unable to access thier rights or info. There are plenty of HIGH POWER lawyers; yet a para-legal (who knows the framework; is cheap; can take action) is practically unknown.There is a great need for clarifying and advocating for the common citizen. What you are doing is fantastic- I've seen numerous situations where institutions calmly and forcibly walk all over rights until brought to face the ILLEGALNESS of what they attempt to profit from. The system itself is overwhelmed- they put resources where there is Public Outcry-not necessarily where the need and best out come would result.Again I agree-a moral person would benifit any vocation they choose,and i see it improving.I admire your dedication to a need society has overlooked. In the 1960's there raged a pitched battle here in the states- mostly young against the old. In terms of clothing , what the person feels comfortable in WON THE DAY. You can easily see why..before that(1940-1950)what you wore was a STATUS symbol. A suit & tie ment that you had "made it" and were "professional" ; NOT ALWAYS TRUE THOUGH. There still exists the pressure to conform. This also is a form of " chasing FASHION ".( Which can display wealth !)-you stay current by purchasing this years style. Again , i thought the sensible goals of a person wearing what THEY chose to wear, was & IS more rational and sensible because they have to PURCHASE and function thier lives in that attire. To judge moral character by the clothing is REACHING conclusions that are untrue. Thanks for the post.

Im in a religious hot bed(socially & geographicly) and you are doing a marvelous job of maintaing your boundries. The "ignore" route works on 78% (or85%)- if they reflect on the conversation later, they should have known that your personal beliefs are yours alone. Gossip partakers? Now , with difficulty i have found the strident-in your face- i'm on a mission people deserve (heeheee) a "little more". Because i am being called to defend something i stand for; but the PROOF is where the issue is. Getting down to an emotional "name calling" level with them resolves nothing. Part brainwashing/part long emotional investment means you are rarely going to make a dent. ( college professors argue contstantly about this very subject). They will quickly lose their human dignity and resort to rants. Like when i found out there is no tooth fairy, i'll cling harder ; no santa (i like kidness and warmth) -but we do not -did not -need aSUPREME BEING making everything(and us) perform. So the facts do win out_/_ you just must pick your battles or its emotionally draining. * Humor helps.* I have folks come to my door and invite me to SERVICES and i remain cordial (i actually pity), family praying for me; co workers who worship objects, but hey i refuse to give up my peace of mind , my tranquillity. I am in recovery,(opiods were handed out like candy), alcohol my drug. We saw it as a willpower choice and now we know its a chemical imbalance-there gets to be no OFF switch for addicts. We need education , not imprisionment. Yes it is stark- we prioritze punishment as opposed to curing the sickness. Mental health at all ends of the spectrum are underfunded and overwhelmed- we ration these services. Some countries have little or no alcoholism -why . I think they are more comprehensive and less commercialized. A person can become addicted to a veriety of things , and using old methods and band aids is not going to make progress.Science,medicine ,education will enable humanity to realize its potential. I met Maria as she was a rental manager,of my apartment build., she made the first move and impressed me with her honesty. We bonded instantly; since her family(2daughters and an infirmed father) was the focus of life for 7 years we did holidays such as Niagra falls ,and camping trips.She loved the shore/ me mountains. We grew together then apart, as her children had children;always the best of freinds.

I found out i have this trait about 9 months ago. I have reaserched it . It tends to run in families . There is basic info on utube( you have to filter the garbage) and also on the national institute of health. 20% of the population has it. It manifests itself to people in different ways ; there are basic coping skills that can tamp down the ACUTE reactions and minimize thier occurence, but YES there is a basis in science fact about the way you feel and react. Social pressures can be more pronounced at certain ages and times in life , so take assesments( like the ones found in this group) and validate you needs.

To preface this, I'm not opposed to dating, I just think I'm not necessarily looking to date right ...

Some things can't and shouldn't be ignored. In some homes today they have patient advocates(legal minded). My ex's brother told me of websites that exsist that were created by OSHA . To have something of this magnitude not reported and acted on REALLY flies in the face of those caring for loved ones. Memory is complex,and with electrical impulses- i am suprised more DOESN'T occur. I have experienced it and felt its akin to not getting ALL the info because it seems incomplete. The brain has like a filing system, as in i think of ice cream-it has a file and that file is connected in various ways. Our memory(of ice cream)has to be updated and yet availible for access. There are triggers that will go to the file OR the whole cabinet , this is where i think the issue happens. Thanks

Yes : i concur and this has been my experience; might note also the "tail wags the dog " phenomena, which causes untold damage to moderate forces. In other words the more extreme voices attempt to silence or remove any info or facts that do not further the "group IDEAL".
