Thanks for your input. And as far as I know, poet laureates are not taught in schools here. They are appointed by presidents, so I'm sure there's a political aspect in there somewhere. I agree with what you say, especially about writing poetry to be more for the poet than for an audience, though at least in my case, I care about being read because the whole point is communication. And I did spell it "cachet", but you were right about "whether".

@genessa That's possible, of course, but I think it has to do with the quality of palliative care, and preparing the patient and family for what's going to happen and when.

I agree, but I think the point of the algorithm is to help doctors be more accurate than they have been in diagnosing and treatment of end of life patients. If it helps, I'm all for it. But it's true that there are too many variables to be 100% accurate. Still, better is better.

@phxbillcee You guys talking about dairy farming? I spent a summer in my youth working on a dairy farm. Early up, nap in the middle of the day (if there's not other stuff to do) then work again in the afternoon and early evening. No days off.
