Anyone else find hitting on people in the comments cringe worthy?
birdingnut comments on Aug 14, 2018:
The men who hit on me in the comments were so vulgar I went ahead and blocked them on the spot.
Are they waiting for an attack?
birdingnut comments on Aug 14, 2018:
Only look at them and pay attention to them when they are speaking on neutral subjects, being friendly and kind. The moment they bring up religion, let your attention wander, look bored while mumbling "Um, hum-that's nice," look at your watch and go somewhere else. If you are consistent, never giving them any attention except when they are behaving, they are quickly trained to avoid talking about religion.

birdingnut comments on Aug 13, 2018:
Just about anything. I want someone my age, Caucasian, American, nonreligious, tall, fit, with similar education, interests, and background. But even when men are all those things I also don't date them if they eat red meat and/or junk food, smoke, drink very much, golf, hunt, or fish.

Most should be. By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve. For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them. You can improve your website score in general by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you. Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt. If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match. Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others who are compatible with them. In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters. Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also. Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial. Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at https://agnostic.com/groups/rooms.

Who do you look like?
birdingnut comments on Aug 13, 2018:
Like I've said before, in 2009, people at Churchill Downs mistook me for a Jackie Kennedy look alike when I was working as an extra on the Secretariat movie. People started yelling and rushing me, ignoring my protests. I finally gave up and let them pose around me for selfies, realizing that all they wanted was Facebook bragging rights, so it didn't matter. In 2002 I designed and made a J-lo inspired ballroom dance outfit on a dare, but when I wore it to a dance in Lexington, KY, some women in the ladies restroom caught sight of me and began yelling that I was an incognito celebrity so a mob of people rushed me. It was scary. Again, they paid no attention to my protests, so I gave up and signed autographs so they'd let me go.
Hi all, I have to say I felt immediate relief the moment I logged into this site.

So the body my soul was given happens to be that of a female.
birdingnut comments on Aug 13, 2018:
I'm sort of like you in some ways. I'm a demisexual, nonbinary, partial transmale, who lives as an androgynous female. I'm very pretty and petite and attract men like crazy, but I have always seen men as pals and peers. But until 2014 I assumed I was a hetero cis female, being unaware of gender issues. I didn't "want" to be a male as a child, instead, I always subconsciously assumed I was, and my family and peers treated me that way also. I had a rude shock when I entered puberty and was forced into the "girl" role. I had little choice but to play along after realized that boys were only going let me keep hanging with them if they "liked" me romantically. As an adult, I love having ballroom/jitterbug dance and hiking partners so agreed to going out on dates, but dreaded the time when the guy eventually would eventually push me to fish or cut bait, because that meant we either had to break up, become physical, or live together. When I did that, I'd soon feel uneasy and claustrophobic, wishing we could continue being pals forever. Demisexuals have no sexual attraction for anyone or any gender until after well over a year of close association. Then often their libido matches or surpasses (in my case) that of a man. That said, I still could take sex or leave it, and didn't like being forced into the female role.

I'm 65, so older than most dirt. Furthermore, I grew up on a Haiti mission in the 1950-60s, which made my childhood experience even closer to the Little House on the Prairie era. We had outhouses, a diesel generator that shut off at night, so we'd have to light our Aladdin lantern, then we'd pump it up until it suddenly glowed bright as electric lights. Only my mom was allowed to do that. We raised hens for eggs, bought live chickens to kill for Sunday dinners, so had to chop off their heads, then go through the process of preparing them, which is smelly and GROSS. I had a horse for transportation, my brother had a bike, and if we needed to go somewhere and there wasn't a mission vehicle available we'd have to catch a tap-tap (converted pickup truck) or camion bus.
Being true.
birdingnut comments on Aug 13, 2018:

birdingnut comments on Aug 13, 2018:
You could quickly train her to avoid religious subjects by acting bored and mumbling, "Um, hum..that's nice," then say you enjoyed talking to her, but you have to run. Only give her encouraging feedback if she is talking on neutral subjects in a friendly manner. You can train her in three tries, as I did my parents. People don't like being ignored. But you have to be consistent.

Tiny home restrictions, very sad. ? [dispatch.com]
birdingnut comments on Aug 13, 2018:
One of the tiny home sites had an article last year that advised tiny home lovers to buy a slightly used RV or camping trailer instead. You can legally park them in trailer parks and campgrounds, they cost a fraction of the fancy tiny homes, plus often have more room and features. Some of them even have pop-outs that make them like small homes. Moving them is much easier than tiny houses.

I've blocked so many people by now that this happens less frequently but usually if I post anything the slightest bit controversial, at least one will turn up, and get blocked.

The Little House on the Prairie book series (NOTHING like the silly TV series) Harry Potter The Tracker True story of Tom Brown and his friend being trained by his friend's Apache grandfather since he was eight years old, to track anything, live and thrive on his own in the wild. It was the blatantly white supremacist memes of my Christian childhood friends in 2016 that convinced me to go totally agnostic. I'm not cringing around, hoping them don't "reject" me..I don't WANT them as friends. Children in cages? Laws against the LGBTQ community? Racist and xenophobic laws? Family and Religion
birdingnut comments on Aug 10, 2018:
I often use a behaviorist method that works very quickly. Only look at and pay attention to people who avoid religious talk and behave normally to you. The moment they start to talk about religion, look distracted and bored, glance at your watch, mumble, "Um, hum..that's nice," in a patronizing manner, then act as though you remember something you need to do and LEAVE. Don't engage with, or even notice them as long as they are talking about religion. Nobody likes being ignored, and if you are consistent, they are quickly trained. I trained my own parents in three visits.

birdingnut comments on Aug 10, 2018:
I roller skated through most of my adulthood, but in my case, I couldn't just skate normally..I had to dance skate, spin, leap, dance sideways, do leaps into the air with spins. I'd go into the center of the roller skating rink so I didn't bother people. I put plastic baby roller skates on my kids as they learned to walk and they skated around the house until it seemed as natural to them as walking. Of course I bought them regular skates as they grew older. At the roller rink they won all the "How Low Can You Go" lambada contests as toddlers since they were so short. I wondered if my skills would translate to ice skates so started ice skating, and found that it was twice as easy with ice skates since I didn't have to keep the wheels turning in one direction. I could spin and leap so much better, letting the blade edges slow or stop me. I could reverse directions effortlessly. We had a small farm pond so we'd go skating there at night if it had been well below freezing during the day. The kids and their cousins played ice hockey with plastic equipment. But I'm that way. At 65 I doubt I'd take it up again..at least I hope not. I can't trust that I'd just skate sedately.
Hi folks.

birdingnut comments on Aug 8, 2018:
I dunno..not sure what knowing any of this does, since it seems to be built into our personalities. I think highly of myself and don't mind being the center of attention, and usually am, but don't go out of my way. I don't care either way as I'm perfectly happy curled up with a Kindle book or out photographing birds in the swamps and jungles. But I enjoy singing/playing in bands/groups, being in TV shows, radio shows, having my own radio shows, and teaching, etc. It's more about what I'm used to, and extremely good at. When most people freeze in front of an audience, even if I feel neutral about it, I soon have them in the palm of my hand. I do it usually because it's my job or it's expected of me, and can take it or leave it. Not everyone can do what I do, so I'm often sought after.

In general, that's true. If a man doesn't want to provide for his wife when she is pregnant and raising babies, then she's better off NOT marrying him in the first place and NEVER having children with him. I made that mistake..I put my low life ex through medical school then when I had a baby and was at home with the newborn, he disappeared to hang out at restaurants with his friends and lovers, leaving me to beg food off my friends.

My ex did that also, and the younger woman he dumped me for, and married, left him for a younger man two days before Christmas.
