Seven years ago we had an irruption of buckeyes. I've only seen one since then. They're one of my favorite North American butterflies.

While searching a patch of Collinsonia canadensis I came across the first hermit sphinx caterpillars I've ever seen outside of books! ❤ The adult moths don't come well to lights and have a limited feeding time at dusk. I've never seen the moth ...

It's 0330 and I'm fading fast! Mothman and I took a ride to Weiser State Forest in the Poconos to set up lights for Papaipema sp. moths. We had no luck at all with the Papaipemas, but we had great times black lighting for caterpillars! I saw more ...
