The high water marks from the tsunami were just a few feet below ancient stone markers on the hill warning not to build (a home) below the stone marker. Fukushima is the ultimate examp0le of greed obliterating commonsense.

Thanks. The same can be said for Seattle, built on the lahars that native people storied about.

@Mooolah A tsunami would wipe out Pioneer Square and other low lying areas of Seattle. Due to the subduction fault off the coast that runs form Northern California to Alaska, eventually a tsunami will happen when the fault moves. They say it can generate mor ethan a 9 on the Rector scale.

@snytiger6 30 minutes to evacuate Seattle when Mt. Rainier blows. Put me off from relocating there. That mountain needs a name change.

@Mooolah Yeah, it is supposed to be one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. I've heard in the early 1800's it completely buried old Seattle.

Very sad that humanity's greed has caused this disaster.

Not what the song originally protested but perhaps Fukushima provides alternate meaning.

Was it not an earthquake & then the tsunami that caused the disaster. This was not negligence., unlike Chernobyl

@Mooolah the plant was built with inferior cost cutting American expertise. The area is renowned for its activity. A wise decision is to not build in such areas.

@Mooolah If you consider that the high water marks of the tsunami was a couple of feet below ancient stone markers with warnings not to build below the stone markers, it was very negligent to build a nuclear plant there.
