They like to be seen as backing a winner instead of making a hard personal choice. The news programs were pimping Biden in advance of super tuesday regardless of his weak showing in debates and polls.
Now in all fairness, the southern states would have gone for him anyway. Southern Democrats are a different animal. For the most part, fairly hard right. As much good as Clinton has done over time, ( and he dragged this state kicking and screaming out of the dark ages, and ironically all those people who now have jobs and nice overpriced houses , instead of having to move out of state to live, suddenly went red), one has to realize that he was right of Nixon on a number of things.
