When pressed by a reporter, President Donald Trump refused to commit to a peaceful transition of power should he lose the election in November, saying he needs to “see what happens," and then went into a rant about how there wouldn’t even be a need for a transition, if we didn’t permit mail-in ballots.
Now, while this may scare the bejesus out of some of you, I do see his point. After all, how is a President like Donald Trump supposed to consider this election valid, if people are allowed to vote him right out of office? Why, that doesn’t make any sense at all. Who’d be for that?
Besides, isn’t it dangerous to change direction in the middle of a huge crises like a pandemic? I mean, we already have over 200,000 Americans dead from this “Democrat hoax.” Isn’t that about enough suffering!
We should thank goodness that we have a President who’s savvy enough to understand this pandemic for what it really is - nothing more than a huge PR problem for his Administration.
He has mafe an admission that he plans on never leaving
First the entire subject is silly. Second, if he loses the election, Trump's agreement to the loss is irrelevant; after the new President is sworn in, no order he issued would be valid or honored.
I sure hope you’re correct!!
@Redheadedgammy Don’t listen to him. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Trump and his GOP buddies are already cooking up a scheme to steal the election, and multiple news sources are reporting on it. Basically Trump casts legitimacy concerns on results in red states, giving Republican governors a chance to replace the electors in those states. I am providing a link to one article that explains it.
@Redheadedgammy Here is a part of the article explaining it. In case you are unable or not inclined to read the entire article.
@Rudy1962, @Reheadedgammy Actually YOU don't know what you are talking about. Read our Constitution. Once a new President is sworn in the one is unable to order or cause anything. The one is no longer the Constitutional Executive, not the Commander in Chief of the military. That says it all, and the article you cite says nothing. Trump can ask or disapprove all he wants to, the result will be the same, he would be out.
@Alienbeing This would be before another POTUS is sworn into office. Did you read the article?
@Rudy1962 Yes, to affect the election, and therefore whether or not he must leave, so what is your remark supposed to mean?
@Alienbeing Your response says, “Once a new president is sworn in the one is unable to order or cause anything.” I am talking about the time between the election and the inauguration.
@Rudy1962 Which makes no sense because OF COURSE a serving President remains President for a full term. Your comment was "He (meaning me) doesn't know what he is talking about". My remark and the subject of the original post was whether or not Trump would leave office when his term expired if we was not elected. So exactly what part of what I said was wrong?
Now you are talking about a lame duck period.
Get your story straight.
@Alienbeing The original post did not mention after Biden is sworn in, and the fact that it is dangerous if he challenges the validity of the results is not “ridiculous. I’m guessing you were focused on “transition of power”.
@Rudy1962 What a lame reply. the ENTIRE discussion revolved around leaving office. It it too bad you can't admit you erred.
@Alienbeing Classic projection on your part.
@Rudy1962 Classic childishness on your part, you got caught and can't admit it.
@Alienbeing Got caught on what?
@Rudy1962 You said I didn't know what I was talking about. When confronted you changed your statement and childishly said you were commenting on an issue not in discussion. A very feeble attempt to run away.
@Alienbeing Again, the post refers to a scenario before Biden is sworn into office. Therefore, I stick to my original statement that you don’t know what you are talking about. Also, even if Trump is unsuccessful in persuading governors to change electors and the court to overturn the election results, military leaders and past military leaders are already discussing what they will do if Trump refuses to step down. The whole discussion is definitely not “silly”.
@Rudy1962 Again, your attempt to escape is ineffective.
@Alienbeing Nice try. You offer no concrete examples of how or what I’m trying to escape. You only have gaslighting and insults. I will admit that the game of “poke the narcissist” is losing its appeal.
@Rudy1962 I'm not trying anything. Your comments appear to comfort you, so rant on.
