They are scared and stupid, that's what. Luckily, I can mostly avoid them. Grateful I no longer have to work with the public like medical workers. The hospitals need to call security pronto on these people and ban them wherever possible unless they can prove they have an emergency medical condition. If they can't boot them out as "stabilized" with the appropriate documentation so they can't sue.

Too bad the antagonists are white, if they were black, the authorities would have shot them already....

The same thing that's wrong with Holocaust deniers, 9/11 conspiracy theorists, Oklahoma City bombing conspiracy theorists, Area 51 conspiracy theorists... I could go on. There are even people who claim WW2 was all just a hoax; those 85 million people didn't die.

If Authority says it's true, there's always going to be someone who says it's a lie. The times when Authority actually is lying (WMDs in Iraq, bombing Cambodia, the Pentagon Papers) don't help matters much.
