I wonder: how do some states get any revenue, if they don't collect income tax? My state collects income tax and it's broke. (I also know a couple who changed their "official" residence to Florida, and stay there for months at a time, so they could get out of paying income tax, but they still own a house here.)
Nevada is in hell, no state income tax because of gambling revenues and public entertainment paying the state bills. Before 2020 anyway.
Low taxes = low services.
@altschmerz Apparently 52% of Texans are OK with it. Schools are under funded, from pre K to PHD level. Cities are underfunded, roads are falling apart, There is a huge element of racism involved as well as a "I got mine, now I'm closing the door on you" attitude.
Not necessarily....NH is a shining example of no taxes, yet great roads & schools....friends with a severely autistic child relocated there specifically because of the great help & services NH provided for him
