But in all honesty, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are not savings accounts like IRAs. It was not designed for you to get your own money back. When it first started, people still collected even though they hadn't paid in much or for long. It has always been meant for today's workers to pay to ensure a safety net for people who are retired. It's much "worse" than an IRA, it's socialism.
