Progressive, innovative and practical. Yang has a plan.
At just under 30 mins in Yang's presentation an audience member called Greg asks an awkward question and Yang waffles that what is needed is increased competition in housing, education and health care -- yes, sounds like pure capitalism to me.
The question was about lanlords jacking up the rent. The answer was with the freedom dividend we could shop around, yes market would dictate the price but we would no longer be tied to a location or a job. This is the genuis I believe of his proposal. All the right wing talking points can be used to support his position. Tax & spend becomes tax & invest. Big government no ,we get the dividend to spend how we wish. Who can better decide each individual or big government? Most importantly they can't sit there all smug and call it socialism. It works in Alaska are they communists? Then he turns the trickle down we are all familliar with, into trickle up. Automation will replace a large part of the workforce in the near future.Fact!
Show me a better plan to deal with that society.
The joining together was tailored to the young man asking the question. If he and 5 or 6 friends pooled their dividend they could live in any part of town.
@altschmerz think of it like a fraternity of a sort. College kids cohabitate all the time. The hippy commune on an even financial footing another. A couple with an adult child another. The point is the choice, here is the means to do, now go do.
