Facing strong blowback for going against recommendations of his own prosecutors, Attorney General William Barr felt it necessary to go on ABC News to mildly push back against President Trump’s attacks on the Justice Department by saying the President’s tweets “make it impossible for me to do my job” and “I’m not going to be bullied or influenced by anybody.
Of course he won’t be bullied. How could anyone possibly think such a thing? Why, it isn’t like he stepped in to save Michael Flynn from serving jail time, desperately tried to dig up dirt on Trump opponent Joe Biden, misrepresented the Mueller Report to the American public, stonewalled Congress when they asked for documents, or fought like hell to make sure Trump’s tax returns will never see the light of day. “No sir, I won’t be bullied - why, I’m crooked enough on my own.”
Barr has such a "cartoon" face, which he has obviously learnt to use to try and give himself sympathy throughout a career of egregious wrongdoing. Possible caption for photo above: "Aw, I done a boo-boo!"
I think of Droopy Dog
It's so strange that these stooges and henchmen of Trump aren't called out by the media for these transparent ploys designed to wreck democratic institutions -- clumsy and overt moves that can be seen for what they are by every layperson. I'm not expecting anything but a cover-up from Fox, but even so reputable an outlet as the BBC merely reports the bare bones of these events without any connective tissue that would put these high crimes and misdemeanors in context and make plain just how slimey and depraved these Trump collaborators are. I have hours of free time every day to follow these things and piece them together in a pattern. But what significance do they hold for tens of millions of voters who are too busy keeping their heads down, noses to the grindstone, asses to the wall, down in the mouth, "living their lives" and the American Dream as the assumption goes, to look into politics, or are just too thick and/or corrupt themselves to care?
On Radio New Zealand this morning -- in this sleepy hollow that fancies itself so, so progressive -- the thrust of the story is that "[heroic] Attorney General tries to distance himself from Mr Trump" keeping things very, very proper for both of them. If you're the conman at the top of the tree the media worldwide are so deferential to you. They recognise Trump, above all, as one of their own in the entertainment industry.
