20 Nov 2019 - Diet Diary - Well, 2 days in and tonight I "forgot" I was cutting off food after 8pm. The good news is I didn't eat a lot after that but realized at 10:30 that I had grabbed a "pinch" of pumpkin seeds (5-8 seeds) at least 3 times and a handful of trail mix. Will have to focus more and stick to the schedule.
Count for today was under my 1200 goal, until I had the handful of trail mix which pushed it up to around 1260. Should still be within a losing range but not where I wanted to stop. Will shoot for 1200 again tomorrow. I will have to get my head back in the game if I plan to make it through this holiday season without packing pounds back on.
Don't sweat the small stuff... You're doing great...
Thanks. I know it is a long-term battle if I want to stay at my goal weight. When I let things slide for several days, it can be frustrating trying to get back on track. I will stick to it, I hit my upper limit this week and that means time to put some extra effort into it.
I'm still in the low 140's....trying to "go to bed hungry" as well. I think that's the key.
I've lost around 150 lbs and eat when I'm hungry. However, my high fiber plant-based whole-food diet satisfies my hunger before overeating. Before, I was always hungry, and gaining weight.
@EdEarl I'm eating more fiber...and I'm trying the vinegar before meals trick. I might have to get "apple-cider vinegar" as that's the specific one mentioned in this study. So far I've been using balsamic and Rice vinegar.
@Robecology Balsamic, made from red wine, has the same phytochemicals as the wine, probably. Thus, it should have the same health benefits.
That's where I am also. Have not been under 140 for a month, hit a high of 147 last week but had a heavy salt dose the day before and it was up 3 lbs from the day before. Sure enough, next day it was back down 3 pounds. This still puts me above my goal. I kind of slack off some, especially when other stresses get in the way but when I hit 5 lbs over goal, I have vowed I will kick into diet mode again. Still hope to get under 140 again, just to give me a little wiggle room but that may not happen until after the holidays. I will settle with keeping it under 145 until after the new year. When I do IF, I am more likely to go to bed a little hungry. Depends on what supper was but not eating after 8PM gives me time to get hungry before I turn in. (usually after midnight)
A salad a day keeps the munchies away. Kale is a super food.
Have kale, although most of it is now smoothie material or soup additive. I have frozen and dried, the fresh is pretty much gone for the year. I need to start doing the smoothies more often, I really like them and they are kale, banana, a second fruit and a second green(spinach, romaine) all blended so very healthy. I just get preoccupied with other things and end up grabbing a "breakfast" of something else. This is not necessarily an unhealthy alternative, I usually have 1-2 fruits (like a clementine and half an apple) for breakfast but then miss the kale opportunity and I have quite a bit of it in the freezer now.
Kale became my fav green when I discovered it and found how easy it is to grow. Like romaine lettuce and spinach a lot as well but not good at growing it. Number of years ago, "The Doctors" TV show did a bit on healthy snacks and the kale/banana smoothie was one that caught my interest so bought some kale and tried it. It was GOOD. When garden season came I picked up a pack of seedling kale and it did so well, I was hooked. The last 3 years I have had kale that wintered over and grew again in spring. No eating from it during the deep winter but the roots didn't winter kill. I will see if any gets through this winter.
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
