2 December, 2019 - Diet Diary - Had 3 good days, got weight back down from highest point since hitting my goal. I am still 4 pounds over my "goal" so I have work to do before Christmas which will by it's nature offer opportunity and impetus to eat more. Today didn't go quite as well as I hoped, gave in to a little bout of snack binging. Trail mix is evil! Will need more focus tomorrow. Doesn't help that I'm also trying to navigate open enrollment (Medicare) this week and deciding on having the bike restored or not as they now (year later) have some time to do it. December SUCKS!
Christmas season has sucked for me since I was 19 years old, Seasonal Affective Disorder may play into it although I've minimized that in the past 2 years by building south exposure seating where I spend time pretty much every day the sun shines so less light deprivation going on. Most of the suckiness comes from emotional distress decades ago which pushed a level of chronic depression to a seasonal low that sets in every December.
That emotional low, although more controlled than it used to be, does make this time of year more challenging to my diet efforts. Understanding your triggers does not necessarily make them controllable. That is why the last 2 years while I was working on losing weight, I took a break around Thanksgiving, into the first part of the year, during which I worked only on maintaining where I was. I will be working on getting down the 4 pounds before Christmas but it will be more challenging than normal.
I hear you. I just rocketed back up with several days of "indulging"....now I'm about to go on a sailing "cruise" (more food to "indulge" in) ....then two weeks later....it's exchange presents day with excessive eating day....followed....again a week later...by a celebration for the new year. So three sets of "indulgences" coming up....my goal will be to gain less than 5 pounds by the new year....I don't dare try to stay my "almost ideal BMI weight" for the next month....or life will be very boring.
Be positive. Life's too short to be overly restrictive. We'll fast in January and get back down.....
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
