I can relate to that. I know a guy who describes himself as a "gregarious loner." He's a talkative introvert, to a point. I think that I'm like that too to a degree. I can talk your ear off in line at the coffee shop, but I tend to isolate and be alone most of the time.

I'm the same way.... This is probably going to sound weird, but after I've been in a friendship for a while, I try to find a way out of it. ... maybe an overreaction to something that person did, or just a general feeling that I'm in too deep. Anyone else experience that?

Thanks everyone. I am coping the best I can. I just feel that after a point, my convos are banal as I scramble to think of something 'neutral' to say. then I feel the person start to get bored, well, at least I feel I as am boring them. sigh. them I think to myself that I'm the most boring person on earth

Maybe it is the life that the more experienced we become the more untrusting we become. Had we stayed to our true nature as an introvert, we might not have been 'burned' so bad. It is this constant need to engage with others, trying to be polite, loving, caring, honest, loyal, fit in, belong, that we lose all of our own identity. We then just become invisible to others, so can we blame them for treating us as invisible? Are we all closet introverts until society and education gets its hands on us?

Some people just suck. But there are good people out there too. Don’t let a few people sour you on the rest of us
