Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.When I visited my son who lived in Richmond I brought back some rose mallow seeds I bought at Kew Garden. I was stupid enough to answer yes about seeds when I went through customs. I will never be honest about flower seeds again.
Oklahoma weather was not kind to my hollyhock. Actually I've never been very successful at growing anything that is biennial.

Do they take much tending? This is not something that will grow in the desert.

Not much tending, but probably not for the desert no. They are a biennial/short lived perennial and grow to about six to seven feet.
