Hey you jonquils. Its January in Wisconsin. You are supposed to be dormant.
So what are we to do for plants already sprouting? I am thinking I should buy several garden frost blankets for my dahlias and hydrangeas, etc. Thoughts??
Mulch - that's what most of the articles say - add more.
I think that's what I did the year Spring came too early up here.
This is happening all over from what I'm reading here. Kind of scary isn't it? We aren't science deniers so we know what is going on.
We have yet to have a real winter frost. This usually happens in Nov. or Dec. Now 40's.
Portland OR high temp yesterday was 62' at 10:00 PM - YES. We have only seen a few freezing morning temps about a month ago, and are now running between 40-50' with some rains. Birds and bulbs are appearing as though it is late March!
They respond to Earth temps...clearly they should be frozen right now. In warmer parts of the country, you get one year from them after you pay big $$$ to buy "pre-frozen" ones.
Can we say Global Climate Change. It is in the 40s in eastern Nebraska.
