I posted this in another group but thought you may like. Found this little person in the garden yesterday. It was a wonderful find, I have not seen a live one for a couple of years in my garden, it proves we still have a population in the village.
Hedgehogs are getting rare in the UK now after being one of the commonest animal I my youth, not that long ago. Some people blame pesticides, habitat loss, others road traffic, mowers or even the fact that badgers which eat them are now increasing due to being protected. It is probably though all of those and more, and all they do is eat garden pests for a living.
Cutie!!
They are so much fun. Surprising to see it active during the day. What time was that?
We had one as a pet here. Puffy was his name. I gave it to a vet tech that was crazy for all kinds of exotic animals. Not my style to give a pet away, but it was my son's pet and he wasn't giving as much attention as it should get.
It was about 2pm, sometimes they are about in the day especially if it has been wet and cool, as it was.
