A couple of weeks ago

Growing a few weeds in my garden. This is the common Orange Hawkweed, Hieracium aurantiacum, or Fox and Cubs, for obvious reasons. It may only be a wild weed, but it does make a show.

It is berry season in my Zone 4A Alaska garden. Raspberry bushes are loaded and Gooseberries will be ready soon. Time to make jam and maybe some country wine too!

It don't get no bettet than this...

Today's harvest after washing and culling out the "chewy" ones:

Rambling rose happily rambling in full bloom.

The garden is coming to its first full flush now, so I took a little walk round. Under the rose arch, and the tree branches. Down the steps to the pond are. Around to the seating. The fern bed. The small sundial garden. The wild wood.

This morning's views....

So, I'm a recent transplant to the west coast of Florida, which meant giving up my community garden plots in New Jersey; too big a commute. For what it's worth, I am happy to report that I have found a local garden club, as well as a nature ...

Pear trees finally dropped their leaves. I mow/mulched everything in my yard into the lawn. My neighbor was raking his up. I drug a clean dumpster over to his yard and asked him if instead of sending his rakings to the city landfill, he'd consider...

Its the hight of the tree blossom season here now. The apple blossom is especially good this year nearly making the branches droop with the weight. The Acer is not bad either.

It's iris time in my Alaska garden...

I think that the veg plot is looking good now, but sadly it will probably never look like one of my near neighbour's.

Vegetables from my garden

Its been such an exceptionally warm Autumn this year, that my Alstromaria, Peruvian Lilies, are making new flowers. Yet the gold in the background is the Autumn colour on the Ginkgo tree. The Hollyhocks too are still in flower.

I planted 3 or 4 new daylilies this past Spring, all selected for having an "eye" and for being a rebloomer. So far this is the only one reblooming but oh boy, doing a good job of it, with 7 buds. Currently nos 3 and 4 are open, and gorgeous.

I have a confession. I am much better at ordering plants, seeds and bulbs, than I am at planting them.

Six little pea plants growing in a pot. How many days before their gardener forgets to bring them in and they freeze? I put them out yesterday to enjoy a light fall rain and some afternoon sun... and remembered them only this morning. Fortunately ...
