Not surprisingly, he was killed by one a few years afterwards

Calling for a Bull Moose in the midst of Rut is insane.
Sounds dangerous even if his call wasn't any good. When you weigh 1500 lbs and have pointy things on your head, you don't need to be very smart.

@GeorgeRocheleau, @Surfpirate yes,we watched in horror...hubby was an avid hunter & loved studying wildlife of all kinds, we both just couldn't believe the foolishness!
I'm convinced that those who semi-seriously pursue the pseudo-scientific...from being kidnapped by aliens to Bigfoot, to flat-earthers....eat up the notoriety of their publishings and/or findings.
They have tuned in to the gullibility of the #religulous...and - like Q-anon, for example...play on their naivité.

Trial and error I suppose, those that get wrong don't find Bigfoot and those unlucky enough to get it right wind up as a sex slave in a Sasquatch den.
