They followed him, sure, but maybe they weren't really his friends.
Maybe they were the grunge kids in highschool that just seemed to band together in the smoking area and did what the toughest kid there said to do..
Or the jocks that all hung out together and followed their captain, but would only have each other's back on the sportsing field.
i dunno - jus' sayin'.
