The purpose of those outfits were/are to inhibit and discourage (islamic) men from coming on too strongly.
With their "dreams of virgins in heaven" the outfits are apparently not working....

seminary is a wonderful place to lose religion. My redneck seminary had 9 dudes, the last one fell about 8 years ago.
As a nerdy pedant, I have to acknowledge most religions had significant utility in their time, but minimal utility today.
