I have to agree with those who say it isn't exactly a choice. I think ignorance is an artificially created condition, carefully orchestrated, but somewhat willingly consumed.
unless you live in a cave or have only half a brain, please don't waste your entire life learning nothing.
I'm not so sure. I think it's a tradition, or pattern of behavior that, right now, too many humans are "locked in" to. Religion isn't really a choice. It's an indoctrination.
Yes. I was brainwashed as a child into accepting religion without question. I'm glad I did my research later, and outgrew that willful ignorance.
@BestWithoutGods As I grew up in the mid 20th century there were more interfaith marriages, and interracial marriages than ever. The "gay" issue was just starting to become known; I've known of men and women "living together" but never assumed they were intimate until later in life. I hadn't known a white and black couple until my mid 20's. (1970's) I So this "age of Information" is still growing, sill blossoming...still just getting started in some nations.
So again; I say; the OP is a nice "idealistic' way to look at things - it's just not very real, yet.
Evidence; Trump's lies...and the millions who buy in to them. II don't think they realize they're being lied to....and I don't think DJT thinks he's lying. As KellyAnne Conway explains...they're following "alternative facts". Here's a great cartoon video that explains the issue;
And those who exercise faith are choosing willful ignorance.
Yes indeed, it is... there's no excuse except for children..
I would not call children ignorant, just not educated yet. To me, ignorance implies deliberate ignoring of information.
@Boxdoc isn't ignorant defined as a lack of knowledge? That's what I always thought.. Everyone is ignorant of something...
@Cutiebeauty Yes, I'm ignorant of many things
